Thomas Lang
"August Day"
Thomas Lang was born and bred in Liverpool. He worked his way up as a backing singer with Liverpool bands such as OMD, The Lotus Eaters and Dalek I. In the early 90's he began a writing partnership with David Hughes which eventually led to a 3 album spell (which included the hits 'The Happy Man', 'Me & Mrs Jones') and many an appearance at Ronnie Scott. He then took a break from recording to run Parr Street studios & participate in several arts foundations in Liverpool.
We are pleased here to see Thomas return with the most appropriate of cover song for this label. The Hall and Oates hidden gem 'August Day' featured on their 1978, David Foster produced, 'Along The Red Ledge' album. Our new version features a lush 50 piece orchestra, however it's the soaring vocal performance from Tom which takes centre stage. The EP also features 'Scared' with it sultry fretless bass, smouldering sax and uplifting chorus.
Which came first? – our record label name or this track? We will let you decide, either way it is great to hear Tom back doing what he does best. the singer and the song.
